Description
The Church of St Leonard's is a ruinous church located on the north side of Main Street in Sand Hutton. It dates back to the early 12th century, featuring a south door from that period, a chancel from the 15th century, and repairs made in the 19th century. The structure is built from rubble and cobbles, with limestone and sandstone dressings. Originally, it had a two-bay nave and a single-bay chancel. Currently, the notable features include a round-arched south door with volute capitals and an incised sundial to the left, along with a section of wall to the right that contains a two-light square-headed window with Perpendicular tracery. Remnants of the east wall are also visible. Inside, there is a cylindrical font.
