Description

No. 44 Church Street is a building with origins in the 18th century. It features a two-storey front extension that is rendered, with a parapet and two windows topped by flat arches, and it has no glazing bars. The shop front has been altered in the 19th century and more recently. The roof is modern and covered with tiles. The side elevation of the house is three storeys high, with a doorway accessed by steps beneath a pedimented wooden porch. There is also a storage entrance on the ground floor and three windows. This building is part of a group that includes Nos. 44 to 51 and the Seaman's Hospital.
