Description
Gate Farmhouse is a pair of cottages that have been converted into a single dwelling, dating from the late 18th century. The building is constructed from hammer-dressed sandstone and features a pantile roof. Originally, it consisted of two direct entry cottages with a single-storey service wing on the right, along with an outshut and a cross wing at the rear. The structure is two storeys tall and has two first-floor windows.
The entrance includes a six-fielded-panel door with a divided oval light above it, alongside a blocked doorway to the left. This is flanked by 16-pane sash windows. The service wing has one two-light Yorkshire sash window. On the first floor, there are unequal nine-pane sashes. The roof is steeply pitched and includes gable coping, shaped kneelers, and end stacks.
