Description

The former smithy attached to the outbuilding at Foundry Farmhouse is a building from the 19th century, or possibly earlier, that is now used as a workshop. It is constructed of squared limestone and features a pantile roof with a brick stack. The building is single-storey with a two-bay front. To the left, there is a renewed board door next to a smithy window that has nine narrow glazed lights, both of which are topped with painted timber lintels. Originally, the smithy was part of the Wrelton Iron Foundry and housed two forges, although few traces of these remain. The building is included for its historical interest.
