Description

Hammer Farmhouse is an 18th-century farmhouse constructed of coursed stone with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features three bays with quoins. A central glazed door is set within a stone surround, and there are four-pane sash windows. The roof has shaped kneelers and ashlar copings, with end stacks. An inscription on the lintel of the left return reads 'S. C. L. 1891', which refers to Samuel Cunliffe Lister, who became Lord Masham after purchasing the Jervaulx estate in 1887.
