Description
The tomb to members of the Stockton family is located approximately 7 metres south of the Church of All Saints in Hovingham. This chest tomb is made of sandstone and stands about 75 centimetres in height. The earliest legible date on the tomb is from 1798. It features a central inscribed plaque, which is flanked by curving panels that bear fluted ovals with paterae at the centre. The cover is supported by Tuscan columns, although the column on the left is missing. Most of the inscriptions on the tomb are largely illegible.
