Description

The Hovingham War Memorial is a war memorial built in 1921 by G Maile and Sons from London. It is made of limestone and is situated within the churchyard of the Church of All Saints, which is a Grade II* listed building. The memorial features a crocketed Latin cross atop a tapering octagonal shaft, which has additional carved detailing at both the top and bottom. This shaft stands on an octagonal plinth that is elevated on a three-stepped octagonal base. The plinth has an incised inscription, including names, on three of its faces, although this inscription is weathered and mostly illegible. The top step of the base is inscribed with the years 1914-1919.
