Description

The Manor House and the attached outbuilding to the rear left is a farmhouse dating from the mid-18th century, with earlier origins. The front of the house is constructed from orange-red brick in English garden wall bond, while the other sides feature some rubble sandstone. It has a 20th-century pantile roof and stands two storeys plus a loft, with four bays. There is a two-course brick band between the ground and first floors and dentil eaves. The openings have segmental arches made of headers. In the third bay, there is a part-glazed door with a three-pane overlight below it, and above, a four-pane sash window. The other windows are 16-pane sashes, some of which have crown glass. The house has raised verges and rebuilt stacks at both ends and in the centre. The rear is entirely made of rubble sandstone, featuring quoins and irregularly spaced small windows. The left and right returns show a mixture of brick and rubble, with brick used for tumbled gables. Each end has a loft window; the left side has a side-sliding sash, while the right side has a two-light casement. The attached single-storey stone outbuilding at the rear left has reversed crow-stepped gables. Inside the house, the loft is accessible via a separate ladder-stair from the kitchen, and it features collared principal-rafter roof trusses.
