Description
Stearsby Grange is a farmhouse dating from the early to mid 15th century. It is constructed from well-dressed sandstone featuring herringbone tooling and has a pantile roof. The building has two storeys and a loft, with three bays. The openings have flat arches, with the voussoirs being two courses deep. The central entrance features a part-glazed door flanked by 20-pane sash windows. On the first floor, there is an inserted central 12-pane unequally-hung sash window that does not have a matching lintel, flanked by 16-pane sash windows. The building has cyma recta shaped kneelers and moulded coping, with brick stacks at either end. To the right, there are two-storey and one-storey outbuildings that have been altered and are now partly incorporated into the house; these are built in rubble and pantile and are not of special interest. The rear of the building matches the front but features the original door with six fielded panels and does not have the inserted first-floor window. On the right return, there is a small loft window located above the outbuilding roof and towards the rear slope.
