Description
Brampton Tower is a house built in the mid 19th century, featuring later additions and alterations. The structure is made of snecked rubble with quoins and has graduated slate roofs topped with brick chimneys. The north gable at the rear has a corbie-stepped design and the building is styled in the Gothic revival manner.
The asymmetrical front displays projecting castellated parapets with corner turrets. On the left side, there is a single-storey, 2-bay block that includes a plank door set in a chamfered surround with a pointed head, along with a 3-light window beneath a hoodmould. The main section features a 3-storey projecting tower, which has a 3-light window on each floor. To the right, a 2-storey, 2-bay block has a single-light window next to an added bay window, with a 3-light window above it. There is also a single-storey, single-bay block on the far right that contains a 2-light window, now without a mullion. All windows are topped with semicircular heads. A 20th-century conservatory at the south end is not included in the listing.
