Description

Warcop Old Bridge, located over the River Eden to the south-west of Eden Gate, is a road bridge that likely dates back to the 16th century. It is constructed of coursed, squared rubble and features splayed cutwaters that separate three segmental arches, each spanning approximately 25 feet. The soffit of each arch has four square-section ribs. The roadway is about 10 feet wide and includes polygonal refuges over the cutwaters. The parapets are around 4 feet high and have segmental copings. This bridge is also designated as a Scheduled Ancient Monument.
