Description
The stables and linking block attached to the northwest end of Dallam Tower were built in the early 19th century by G. Webster of Kendal, with some later alterations. The building features scored stucco with sandstone dressings and has a graduated greenslate roof topped with a lead ridge. It is two storeys high and has five windows on each side of the linking block and stable, all of which are sash windows with glazing bars. The stable section consists of five bays arranged in a 2:1:2 pattern, with the central bay slightly projecting. There is a central carriage arch with a round head and rusticated voussoirs, flanked by two pairs of boarded doors on either side. The building has a plinth, rusticated quoins, and a hipped roof over the stable, which is topped by a clock tower with a cupola and a weathervane supported on eight columns.
