Description

MILL BROW 1. 5166 (north side) No 2 and attached stable SD 6178 NW 5/107 12.2.62 II GV

  1. Early C18. Three storeys. Ashlar. Slate roof. Two chimneys. One sill band. Wooden cornice. Four windows with plain stone surrounds and sills, sashed with all glazing bars except shop windows which have partly modern glazing. Yard entrance to right hand side with segmental head. Doorway with plain stone surround and cornice on cut consoles. Door of four raised and fielded panels, with glazed top with Gothick glazing bars. Interior. On ground floor large fireplace in former kitchen. Dogleg stair of two flights and landing with closed string, square newels and two types of turned balusters. In attic massive roof trusses and small early C18 fireplace. Cellars under house have shallow segmental stone vaults. In yard is C19 stable block with round pitch-hole. Doorcase with architrave and cornice on cut consoles. Door with two sunk panels, its upper half glazed in small panels.
