Description

Number 2 and the attached stable are early 18th-century buildings located on the north side of Mill Brow. The structure has three storeys and is built of ashlar with a slate roof. It features two chimneys, one sill band, and a wooden cornice. There are four windows with plain stone surrounds and sills, which are sashed with all glazing bars, except for the shop windows that have partly modern glazing. To the right side, there is a yard entrance with a segmental head. The doorway has a plain stone surround and a cornice supported by cut consoles, with a door made of four raised and fielded panels, topped with glazed sections featuring Gothick glazing bars.

Inside, the ground floor includes a large fireplace from the former kitchen. There is a dogleg stair with two flights and a landing, featuring closed string, square newels, and two types of turned balusters. In the attic, there are massive roof trusses and a small early 18th-century fireplace. The cellars beneath the house have shallow segmental stone vaults. In the yard, there is a 19th-century stable block with a round pitch-hole. The stable's doorcase has an architrave and cornice on cut consoles, and the door features two sunk panels, with the upper half glazed in small panels.
