Description
The gatehouse to the east of Croglin Low Hall is an outbuilding that dates back to the early 17th century, with some alterations made in the early 19th century. It features red sandstone rubble walls and a stone slate roof. The structure is two storeys high and consists of a single bay. The entrance, which has been enlarged, is located in the gable wall facing the courtyard and includes re-used chamfered jambs with a wooden lintel. To the left of the entrance, there is a small staircase window from the 18th century, along with a smaller window above it. The wall on the left end, closest to the gateway, has a filled 2-light mullioned window that resembles those found in the main hall. On the opposite gable wall, there is a sash window with glazing bars. The rear wall has two ground floor windows that are partly filled and covered by a lean-to outbuilding that connects to the hall. The gatehouse is listed partly for its group value with the nearby hall and gateway.
