Description
Hill Farmhouse is a farmhouse dating from the late 17th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of cement-rendered stone and has a graduated slate roof. The building has two storeys and features three windows on the first floor. A 20th-century glazed porch encloses a part-glazed door, and to the right of the porch, there is a broad four-pane sash window that replaces a former three-light mullioned window, which has a chamfered surround but a lowered sill, along with a 17th-century hoodmould. To the left of the porch is a tall four-pane sash window, and beyond that, there is a broader four-pane sash window, both with projecting sills. The first floor also has sash windows. The front wall at the left end of the house curves with the lane, and there are end stacks.
Inside, the lounge features a beamed ceiling with transverse beams, including one of a deeper section that indicates the position of a former smokehood bressumer. There is one principal-rafter truss, and the right end stack oversails the inner gable wall on wooden cantilevers, suggesting the existence of a former smokehood.
