Description
This is a barn located approximately 50 meters to the north-west of Grayrigg Hall, likely dating from the 17th century or earlier. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a slate roof, featuring an L-plan layout. The north-east wing includes a barn entrance, with an additional entrance at the left end and a window to the right. The south-east wing has a gable end and a lean-to outshut at the right end. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to consist of five and three bays, with cruck trusses supported by low stone piers against the walls. This barn is a rare example of a cruck framed structure in this part of Cumbria.
