Description
Lamonby House and the adjoining barns are a farmhouse and barns dating from 1703, as indicated by the inscription over the rear doorway. The building features dressed red sandstone with a string course, eaves cornice, and V-jointed quoins, all resting on a chamfered plinth. The roofs are made of graduated greenslate, although part of the barn roof has been replaced with corrugated asbestos. The roofs have coped gables and kneelers, along with banded stone chimney stacks. The structure is two storeys tall and consists of three bays, with a single-bay extension on the right and a rear L-shaped barn.
A 20th-century door is set in a pilastered surround beneath a segmental pediment. There are double 20th-century casement windows in 18th or 19th-century stone surrounds, except for a single window above the door. The extension features a similar casement window in a 19th-century stone surround. The barns have plank doors and loft doorways, all within stone surrounds, along with other similar openings, some of which are blocked. There are 20th-century additions to the rear of the barns that are not of interest.
