Description
Sycamore House and the adjoining barn/stables are likely from the early 18th century, with some alterations made in the late 18th century. The house features pebble-dashed walls and a graduated greenslate roof, complemented by banded rendered chimney stacks. The barn/stables are constructed of whitewashed rubble and also have a graduated greenslate roof. The building is two storeys high and consists of two bays, with the barn/stables on the lower right side, which also has two storeys and two bays. The front of the house includes a centrally located top-glazed panelled door set in a painted stone surround. There are sash windows with glazing bars, with the right side featuring double windows, all set within stone surrounds. The barn/stables have two plank doors and various small openings, including a partly-blocked two-light stone-mullioned window. The right side of the barn/stables has slit vents located beneath the loft doorway. This building is listed for its group value with Ash View and Ash Cottage, and it occupies a prominent position when entering the village from the north.
