Description
Townhead is a farmhouse dating to 1702, located in Newbiggin, near Ainstable. It has painted rendered walls with a large footing of stones, and a slate roof with a central stone chimney stack and brick chimney stacks at each end. The building is two storeys high and has four bays. A 20th-century glazed door is set within a chamfered surround with an inscribed entablature and hood mould. The ground floor features three-pane sash windows with painted stone surrounds, while the windows above are two-pane sashes with similar surrounds. A 19th-century L-shaped extension to the rear is constructed of dressed red sandstone with a graduated Welsh slate roof and features two-pane sash windows and a 20th-century glazed porch.
