Description
29 and 31 Main Street is a mid-18th century building that stands two storeys high and features a symmetrical three-bay design. The exterior is plastered and topped with a slate roof, and it has two chimneys. Notable architectural details include a plinth, quoins, and a cornice. The windows and doorway all have a cyma moulding on the reveal. The outer windows are tripartite with large central lights, and the mouldings on the mullions match the cyma design. Although the ground floor glazing has been modernized, the larger lights on the first floor still have sash windows with all glazing bars. The entrance features a three-panel door.
To the left, No 31 is an extension that is also two storeys high and consists of one bay. It is plastered and has a slate roof, with the cornice extending over from No 29. The ground floor of No 31 has been altered, but the first-floor window has been recently widened and retains a sash with all glazing bars.
Inside No 29, there is a wooden arch on the landing with sunk panels on the jamb and soffit, along with capitals and a fluted keystone that supports a straight entablature enriched with a Greek Key design. There are three doors, each with six raised and fielded panels. The attic features a heavy sawn collar roof.
