Description

No. 12 King Street is a former public house with an old doorway to the left featuring a moulded and shaped lintel dated 1669. The remainder of the building was rebuilt in the late 19th century. It is constructed of dressed ashlar stone and has a central six-panelled door. There are two double sash windows on both the ground and first floors, along with two single sash windows in gabled half-dormers. A plaque on the building notes that Trooper William Pearson, who was born in 1828 and died in 1903, lived here; he was charged with the Light Brigade in 1854.
