Description

Cark Manor Cottage, together with its railings and gate, is an early 19th-century lodge. The building is constructed of roughcast stone with a hexagonal slate roof edged with lead. It is a single-storey structure of three bays, with a canted projection on the south side. Decorative brackets support the eaves, and there are also moulded brackets present. The windows are detailed with label moulds and small panes arranged in an elongated octagon pattern; the northern bay has a sash window. The entrance features a label mould above a panelled door. The building has a central chimney stack with octagonal shafts and a smaller brick stack on the north side.

The railings, approximately 90 metres in length, are set on a stone base and curve back to a central gate. The railings are supported by rusticated stone piers topped with ogee caps, with ball finials on the piers flanking the curved section and urns on the gate piers. The railings themselves have a serpentine form, with ornamental finials alternating with acorn finials. Ornamental panels are incorporated into the base of the railings, and the gate is of a matching design.
