Description
The farmhouse at Thompson Fold is probably from the early 18th century, with a later addition. It is constructed of stone rubble and has a slate roof. The east-facing elevation is two storeys high and has seven bays, with the first two bays representing a later addition. The third to seventh bays feature windows and an entrance, all with flat arches. Blocked windows appear in the third and sixth bays of the ground floor, and in the third and fifth bays of the first floor, indicating previous window locations which have been bricked up. A casement window sits in the fourth bay of the ground floor, and a sash window is found in the seventh bay, both featuring glazing bars. The first floor has a sash window with margin lights in the fourth bay, and sash windows with glazing bars in the sixth and seventh bays. The first two bays have casement windows with lintels, and sash windows with glazing bars are present on their first floor. The entrance, located in the fifth bay, has a half-glazed door. The farmhouse features gable-end stacks, along with a squat, cross-axial stack. The rear of the farmhouse includes a gabled wing with a double-chamfered basement window and windows with varied glazing patterns. The interior was not inspected, but reports indicate a staircase with turned balusters, square newels, and a moulded handrail.
