Description

Penrith Station, built around 1846 by Sir W. Tite for the Lancaster and Carlisle Railway, is a single-storey stone structure. The central section features a Tudor-style entrance flanked by two 2-light windows with stone mullions and small panes. There are gabled wings on either side, which are of unequal size and also have stone mullioned and transomed windows. The station includes two platforms supported by iron segmental arched girders that have round eye ornaments in the spandrels.
