Description
Crown Farmhouse and the adjoining barns date from the early 18th century, with later extensions. The farmhouse features red and calciferous sandstone rubble walls with flush quoins, topped by a graduated greenslate roof and brick chimney stacks. The barns are constructed from similar rubble, raised in height with cream sandstone, and have a sandstone slate roof. One barn extension has a corrugated asbestos roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high with four bays, and the lower left barns are on two levels. The house has a 20th-century door in a flush quoined surround beneath a cornice, and double sash windows in stone surrounds, with the exception of a single sash window above the entrance and fire windows on the left. The barn includes slit vents and a small window on the right. The barn extension features a segmental-arched doorway beneath loft doorways, and the return wall has external steps leading to a loft doorway. A rear 20th-century extension to the house is not of interest.
