Description
Kirkland Villa and the adjoining barn are a farmhouse and barn dating from the early 19th century. The building features painted stucco walls with angle pilasters on a chamfered plinth and a graduated greenslate roof with ashlar chimney stacks. The barn and the house extension are made of whitewashed sandstone rubble and have a sandstone slate roof with an ashlar chimney stack. The two-storey, two-bay house has a lower single-bay extension and a barn to the left, all under a common roof. The house includes sash windows set in painted stone surrounds, while the extension features a panelled door beneath a glazed fanlight, also in a painted stone surround. Sash windows with glazing bars are present in painted stone surrounds. A pilaster strip separates the house from the barn, which has a lean-to extension at the front with a cart entrance to the right. The building is listed partly for its group value with Kirkland Hall opposite.
