Description
37-41 Rudds Court, formerly known as The Shakespeare Public House, is a former public house dating from around the 1860s. At the time of inspection in September 1989, it was derelict. The building is constructed of rendered sandstone and features a gable end roof, rising three storeys. It has a regular four-window arrangement with bracketed cornice eaves. The upper floors contain late 19th-century four-pane horned sash windows set in reveals. The second floor has flat window arches with a sill band, while the first floor features stilted window arches with a continuous moulded impost band and a plain sill band. There are two round-headed windows, which have later plate glass, and two round-headed doorways that are connected by a continuous moulded impost band. The building is included for its group value.
