Description

This is a row of five houses, numbers 35 to 43, forming a terrace on Victoria Road in Botcherby, Carlisle. Built in the 1830s or 1840s, the houses were constructed using Flemish bond brickwork. Some houses have light-coloured brick headers, while others have a cement-rendered finish. They are set on a chamfered plinth with painted stone dressings. The roofs are of Welsh slate with coped left gables. Numbers 41 and 43 have a higher roofline, and the original brick chimney stacks remain on the ridge and ends of the terrace.

Each house is two storeys and two bays wide, utilising a double-depth plan. The houses have either a left- or right-hand door, all replacements from the 20th century, each with a radial-patterned fanlight set within a stone surround within brick reveals. Original sash windows, some with glazing bars, are set in brick reveals, featuring stone sills and flat brick arches. The interiors of the houses have not been inspected.
