Description

Haverlands House is a farmhouse with an attached outbuilding, dating from the 17th century or earlier, with alterations and additions made in the 18th and 19th centuries. The buildings are constructed of mud and brick, with an external render and paint, except for the east gable, which is made of brick. The house features brick gable chimneys and a slate roof with stone slated eaves.

The layout combines the house and outbuilding, with an advanced service offshoot from the house, which is thought to follow a longhouse plan. The south elevation is single storey throughout, with the house offshoot facing the raised house, which is two storeys at the rear. The house has three bays, with a central two-light window that has pointed heads and is surrounded by painted flush surrounds. To the east, there is a small-paned window, and to the west, a small square fire window.

The attached outbuilding has an advanced central porch with full-height boarded double doors. To the east, there are two plain single doorways with flush surrounds, with the easternmost door located at the junction with the house, marking the position of the cross-passage entry typical of a longhouse. To the west, there are three small square openings, and the west gable features an overloft door within the apex. The interior has not been inspected but is believed to contain features of interest.
