Description

This is a terrace of eight villas, built in the second half of the 19th century and situated in a prominent location at the southern entrance to town. The houses are generally two stories high. The end houses have gabled ends facing the road, each featuring a round-headed window in the gable. The remaining houses have gabled dormers on the roof. Each villa has a panelled front door with a segmental fanlight, set within a stone doorcase with a cornice supported by brackets. A three-sided bay window is fitted with a moulded cornice, and the sash windows are flanked by colonnets. The upper floor has a single sash window above the door and a double sash window above the bay, both with cornices on brackets. A moulded cornice runs along the top of the facade, supported by large, ornamented brackets. Bargeboards adorn the gables. The facade is cemented and uniformly painted white.
