Description

No 2 Crown Street is a late 18th-century building with long, low proportions. It features roughcast walls, quoins, and eaves supported by brackets. The building is two storeys high and has a central panelled door with a plain fanlight, all set within a plain stone architrave that has a label. On the ground floor, there are two wide double sash windows, while the upper floor has three single sash windows, all framed by plain stone architraves. Notably, Fearon Fallows, the Astronomer Royal, was born here in 1788. This building adjoins Wordsworth's House and is part of a group that includes Nos 2 and 4, the Trout Hotel, and Grecian Villa.
