Description

The Mayo Statue is located on Main Street and was erected in 1875 by W & T Wills of London. It features a square granite plinth with a cornice, supporting a standing figure made of white stone. The statue commemorates the sixth Earl of Mayo, who died in 1872 and served as the Member of Parliament for Cockermouth from 1857 to 1867.
