Description

The Gill is a farmhouse dated 1626, featuring the initials R.T. and M.T. above the entrance. It has undergone extensive alterations and additions in the late 18th century. The building has painted stucco walls, a Welsh slate roof, and brick and ashlar chimney stacks. It is two storeys high and has four bays, with a three-bay span at the rear. The entrance includes a top-glazed six-panel door set in a pilastered surround with a pedimented cornice. The windows are double sash with glazing bars, and the top panes of each window have rounded heads, all framed in painted stone surrounds. A small upper floor window at the rear has a chamfered surround, indicating that parts of the original 1626 house may still be present. There are single-storey outbuildings at the rear, but these are not of interest.
