Description

The byres located to the south-east of Askerton Castle date from the mid-19th century and are constructed from calciferous sandstone rubble, topped with graduated sandstone slates and featuring coped gables. The building is two storeys high and consists of three bays. On the ground floor, there are plank doors and casement windows set within plain stone surrounds. Above, there is a loft door and slit vents. These byres are included partly for their group value with Askerton Castle.
