Description
The folly east of Whoof House is a structure that was originally an east window from Arthuret Church, dating from either 1610 or between 1650 and 1675. It was rebuilt in the grounds of Whoof House in 1868. The folly features a brick base, red sandstone buttresses, and a freestone surround with tracery. The window consists of six lights, divided into two sections by a central mullion. Each section has intersecting tracery heads and a large oval at the top of the arch. This structure is illustrated in Pevsner's "Buildings of England" (Cumberland and Westmorland volume), page 199, plate 43, as well as in works by Bulman and Frith.
