Description
No. 2 Greenmarket is a house that has been converted into a shop, dating from the early 19th century. It features incised stucco walls adorned with incised pilasters, string courses, and an eaves cornice. The roof is covered with 20th-century Welsh slate and has a 19th-century brick chimney stack at one end. The building stands three storeys high and has two bays. The central entrance consists of a 20th-century door flanked by windows, while the upper floors have sash windows set within painted stone architraves. The exterior detailing is similar to that of Nos 26-30 Castle Street, suggesting they were designed around the same time, in the 1820s, by architect Paul Nixson. The interior was completely gutted during alterations in 1988.
