Description
Troughton House is a house built in the late 18th century or early 19th century, with later additions and alterations. It features incised stucco with corner pilasters on a moulded plinth and an eaves band. The roof is made of graduated slate with stone copings and kneelers, and there are brick chimneys at either end. The house has an 'L'-shaped plan and is two storeys high. The symmetrical three-bay front has steps leading up to a central panelled door, which is topped by a rectangular fanlight set in a corniced architrave. The windows are sashes with glazing bars, framed in stone surrounds. On the right side, there is a lower two-bay wing that is set back and features a porch with a glazed door and sashes, which has been extended to form a garage; there are two sashes above this wing. The rear wing is not of particular interest.
