Description

The aqueduct, built around 1837 and later repaired, features sandstone piers and a cast-iron channel that carries a small stream over Roade Cutting. This cutting is 65 feet deep and 1.5 miles long, representing one of the most ambitious engineering projects on Robert Stephenson's pioneering London-Birmingham railway line, which was opened in 1838.
