Description
This beehouse, built around 1870, is located in the kitchen garden southeast of the main entrance to Castle Ashby. Constructed from limestone ashlar, it features two tiers of six round-headed alcoves designed for bee-skeps, each with keyblocks. The structure has a plinth, pilastered corners, and narrow pilaster strips between the bays, along with a plain frieze and a moulded cornice. It is one of a pair of beehouses symmetrically positioned on either side of the path leading from the main entrance. The gardens and park of Castle Ashby are recognized in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission Register of Parks and Gardens for Northamptonshire at Grade I.
