Description
Folly Farmhouse is a house that was formerly a farmhouse, dating from the late 17th century. It is constructed of coursed squared ironstone and features a slate roof with brick ridge and end stacks set on stone bases. The house has a two-unit lobby-entry plan and stands three storeys tall with a two-window range. The ground, first, and second floors each have three-light 20th-century casement windows, all with timber lintels. The left ground floor window features a hood mould. To the right side, there is a 19th-century single-storey extension with a tile roof. The first floor of the right gable end includes a two-light chamfered mullion window with a hood mould. The rear of the house has similar one-and two-light windows, some also with hood moulds. Access to the rear is through the 20th-century single-storey extension. The building has an irregular plinth, quoins, stone eaves, and stone coped gables with kneelers. Inside, the farmhouse features stop-chamfered spine beams and a fine bressumer above an open fireplace that includes a bread oven.
