Description
This is a barn located approximately 15 meters south of Highgate House, likely built in the early 18th century. It features a combination of brick and cob construction, with a brick facade and cob patched with brick at the rear. The gable ends are timber framed, and the roof is made of corrugated iron over thatch, forming an L-plan structure with three bays.
The left bay contains a doorway with a wooden lintel and a plank door, while there are two 20th-century windows to the right. An extension to the left dates from the 18th or 19th century. The ground floor is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, and the upper floor is cob, also topped with a corrugated iron roof. This section is two storeys high and has two bays, featuring a plank door with a wooden lintel in the left bay and double plank doors with a wooden lintel leading to a garage in the right bay. The first floor includes 9- and 7-pane windows in wooden frames.
Inside, the barn retains its original roof structure.
