Description
This is a row of four headstones located approximately 4 meters north of the north aisle of the Church of St. John the Baptist in Upper Boddington. The headstones date from the late 17th century and early 18th century and are made of limestone and lias ashlar.
From left to right, the first headstone is dated 1673 and features a scrolled head with a partially legible recessed inscription panel. The second headstone has a cherub at the top and a partially legible inscription panel. The third headstone displays two cherubs at the head with an armorial device between them and an open book inscription panel, which is illegible. The fourth headstone also has a cherub at the head, surrounded by foliage and scrolls, with an illegible inscription. The early 18th century headstones are included for their group value with the late 17th century ones.
