Description

A row of three cottages located in Chipping Warden, dating to the 17th century. The cottages are constructed of regular coursed ironstone, with some brick to the rear of No. 3. They have thatched roofs and brick ridge stacks. Each cottage follows a two-unit plan, with No. 1 having a lobby entry. Numbers 1 and 2 are two storeys and an attic, while No. 3 is one storey and an attic. The cottages have a five-window range. No. 1 features a two-panelled front door, while Nos. 2 and 3 have half-glazed doors. A carriage opening with a wooden lintel exists between Nos. 2 and 3, although it has been reduced and altered with a 20th-century sliding door. The windows are a mix of 19th- and 20th-century casements, some with glazing bars. No. 1 also showcases moulded wooden mullioned windows, with a three-light window on the ground floor and a two-light and a three-light window on the first floor. There are two half dormers present, and No. 1 also has a flush roof dormer with a leaded light casement and a small area of tiling below. No. 3 lacks first-floor windows. The right return side features an external stack. At the rear, No. 2 has an outshut, and No. 1 has a small single-storey wing. The rear fenestration is irregular. The interior has not been inspected.
