Description
Wyndham House is a house that was formerly a rectory, built in the 18th century with 19th-century alterations. It features coursed squared limestone with sandstone dressings, and some brick on the sides and rear, topped with a slate roof and various brick stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window range. The entrance front includes a central part-glazed door set within a stone gabled porch. Throughout the house, there are 12-pane Gothick sash windows with stone sills, jambs, lintels, and thin hood-moulds. A stone band runs along the first floor, and the eaves are also made of stone, leading to a hipped roof. There are two-storey canted bays on the right and left sides, with the left bay featuring an upper storey of white brick. The right bay stands on a high base above the road and includes an iron balcony. The base wall on the roadside incorporates a possible Romanesque impost with herringbone-moulding. There are later 19th-century extensions at the rear. Inside, there is a late 18th-century staircase with turned balusters.
