Description

The Manor is a house with origins in the medieval period, significantly altered in the early 17th and mid-18th centuries, and further modified in the 19th century. It is constructed of coursed squared limestone and ironstone, with a tile roof and stone and brick ridge stack. The house comprises two parallel ranges which overlap in the middle.

The main entrance range has two storeys and an attic and features five windows. A part-glazed door, with an architrave surround and a hood dated 1749, is located on the left side. The window arrangement is irregular, with 12-pane sash windows, stone sills, and timber lintels. A two-window projection dating from the 19th century is situated to the right of the door. The left side of the first floor has two further sash windows, and the right side features various ashlar sashes. An ironstone plinth and quoins are also present. To the left of the main entrance range is an extension containing a large wood mullion and transom window that illuminates the staircase. The garden front has a four-window range, with a central four-panel door and fanlight set within a recessed stone arch with round arch imposts and a keyblock within a rectangular frame. This range also has 12-pane sashes, stone sills, and timber lintels, alongside a chamfered plinth, brick dentil cornice, and two roof dormers.

Inside, the house has stone-flagged floors and a four-centred arched fireplace in the rear range. A fine late medieval roof truss is located above a presumed former open hall, exhibiting clasped principals, a tie-beam, a king-post, and arched collar braces.
