Description

The Church of St Peter and St Paul features a group of six chest tombs and eight headstones located to the south of the church. These tombs and headstones date from the late 17th century to the early 19th century and are made of dressed ironstone.

Three chest tombs are positioned beside the south aisle, with one featuring baluster corners and the others adorned with swags. There is another chest tomb approximately 1 meter east of the south-east angle of the south aisle, which has baluster corners and commemorates Samuel Freeman, who died in 1825. A chest tomb located about 7 meters south of the chancel is inscribed with "1614/AR" on its west end.

Four headstones can be found approximately 4 meters south of the south-east angle of the south aisle, dating from the 18th century. One has a segmental head with a cherub's head, while the others have shaped heads. One of these headstones is dedicated to Mary Freeman.

Additionally, there is a chest tomb about 6 meters south of the south-east angle of the south aisle, which dates from the 17th century. Two headstones are located approximately 3 meters south-east of the south porch; one is sunk, and the other features a shaped head with a skull and crossbones. Two more headstones are situated south-east of the south porch, marking the graves of Richard, son of Richard Freeman, who died in 1691, and Mary, wife of Richard Freeman, also who died in 1691, both decorated with garlands and swags.
