Description

The Hall, stable block, and attached wall and gatehouse is a stable block dated 1799, constructed from ironstone ashlar with a patterned slate hipped roof. It is designed in a U-shape, featuring a two-storey central block with two windows, flanked by one-storey wings that enclose three sides of a courtyard. The central block has four segmental-headed 18-panel double-leaf coach house doors, which are flanked by 12-pane sash windows and 9-panel doors with overlights at either end. The return wings have similar doors and windows arranged symmetrically, although the right wing has a blind window. The left wing has double-leaf garage doors that replace the left end door and window. There is a string course above and a row of mostly blind lunettes. The central pavilion features round-headed windows and plain pilaster strips in the center and at either end. It is topped with a dentilled pediment that includes a clock face in a moulded stone frame and square surround. Above, there is a square timber cupola with open round-headed arches on octagonal columns and an ogee lead roof. The wings have moulded stone eaves.

Attached to the stable block is a crenellated wall from around 1800 that bounds the churchyard, extending from the left end of the stable block to The Hall, with a gatehouse providing access to the church near the house. The two-storey gatehouse features a Tudor arched doorway with trefoil cut spandrels and a hood mould. The other three sides within the churchyard have chamfered arches with pointed heads. The gatehouse also has a chamfered plinth and string at the first-floor level and at the base of the battlemented parapet.
