Description
Magdalen College School's south-west building is located on Brackley High Street. The school was founded in 1548 and reorganised in 1860. The building features a range facing west, which includes the remains of a partly rebuilt early structure in the center and a section built in 1896 to the right, adorned with the shield of arms of Magdalen College. The early part, dating from the 16th to 17th century, has a stone stack with two diagonally set moulded brick shafts. At eaves level, there is a gable with stone coping, a finial, and a two-light stone mullioned window. The remainder of the building is primarily 19th century, likely constructed between 1870 and 1880 by architect C.I. Bather from Shrewsbury, and features two storeys of coursed rubble with "Tudor" headed stone windows that have square labels.
