Description
No 2 Sheaf Street is a building from the 16th or 17th century that has been remodeled in an ornamental Gothic style. It features a stucco exterior and a low-pitched roof behind a crenellated parapet, with octagonal angle turrets, a moulded cornice, and a quatrefoil frieze. The building is three storeys tall and has sash windows with pointed arched glazing bars and dripmoulds. On the right side, there is a two-storey canted bay that is two windows wide, and on the left, a pointed arched window on the first floor is situated above the doorway. The entrance has a six-panelled door, with two glazed panels, set in a four-centred arch that is surrounded by an ornamented frieze, with a cornice forming a narrow balcony that was formerly fitted with railings. The interior is said to contain a 19th-century staircase with turned balusters. The building also includes No 1 Tavern Lane, which has a separate description for its north front.
