Description
The Millstone House is a public house that has been converted into a house, dating from the mid-18th century. It is constructed of squared coursed lias stone and has a 20th-century concrete tiled roof. The building originally had a three-unit plan with a through passage and is two storeys high. The front features a three-window range of casements with glazing bars on the first floor, while the ground floor has 20th-century casements, all set beneath wooden lintels. To the right, there is a 19th-century glazed door with a flight of steps leading up to it. A central brick and stone chimney stack is present. Inside, the two rooms to the left of the entrance have open fireplaces with chamfered bressumers and chamfered ceiling beams. The original roof structure is reputedly retained beneath the new roof. The building was formerly known as the Millstone Public House and is included for its group value with the Church of St. Peter and St. Paul.
